ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This site is meant to work for everyone— that’s part of the mission, not a checkbox.

davidbirnie.com is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, in keeping with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation. The site is built toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

Measures in place:

  • Full keyboard navigation with visible focus indicators and a skip-to-content link
  • Text and interface colours checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios, in both dark and light modes
  • A light mode toggle (the lightbulb in the top bar) for readers who find dark interfaces difficult
  • All animation disabled automatically for visitors with a reduced-motion preference, and a pause control on moving content
  • Semantic HTML landmarks, labelled controls, table captions, and alt text on meaningful images
  • Screen-reader notice on links that open in a new tab

Feedback: if you hit a barrier anywhere on this site, please tell me directly at david.cp.birnie@gmail.com — I aim to respond within five business days and to fix real barriers, not just log them.
